Copyright Notice for Course Packs

The course pack should include the following information on the front cover

  • the name of the department
  • the subject name and number
  • a description of the purpose for which the materials are made (e.g. Tutorial Readings, Semester 2, 2011), and
  • a statement in relation to copyright in the following form and size :

THIS COMPILATION OF STUDENT READING MATERIAL HAS BEEN MADE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF PART VB OF THE COPYRIGHT ACT FOR THE TEACHING PURPOSES OF THE UNIVERSITY.

FOR USE ONLY BY THE STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE ENROLLED IN THE SUBJECT: [subject name and code]

There should be a contents and acknowledgments page at the beginning of the course pack.

There on limits on the amount and type of material that can be included.

You can charge for your course pack, so long as its for cost recovery only. It is preferable that such material is sold through the Melbourne University Bookshop. It is also recommended that the material included in the course pack is made available to students without charge in another form, e.g. on reserve in a library.
